rules

Dear potential and current members alike,

We are honored and thrilled that you would take the time to look at our game and even consider joining. There are a few things we want to be upfront with you about before we progress on to the rules. There are two mods here at ~tegesta. We have very unique schedules and, while we are around a lot, we are not around 24/7. Still, we believe that the two of us together can fully operate and moderate a community that offers players and writers exactly what they want: a stable gaming environment with reliable and dependable mods. We may not be able to answer concerns within minutes but we try to be as timely about matters as is possible.

The rules here at ~tegesta are simple and standard for any game. All standard rules apply. Act like an adult and don't be a douchebag.

Do not cross the in-character/out-of-character line.
You will receive one warning and one warning only for this. After that, you will be removed from the game and your play-by will become available for use by someone else. If you have an altercation with another member, contact the mods via the drop box or through a private message. We will handle the situation fairly and without bias. We strive to keep the peace and make sure that everyone is having a fair and fun time at ~tegesta. Don't be afraid to contact us if you have any concerns, it's only through your feedback that we can understand what should be adjusted for your needs. That said, by applying to the game, you are acknowledging that you read the rules and agree to abide by them, if you break the rules and are removed, we will point you to this paragraph.

There is a character limit. Two characters per player.
If you feel that you are able to take on another character without neglecting your first two characters, you may comment the drop box or private message the mods. Decisions will be made case-by-case. We will never show favoritism over applications and members. In addition, if a player takes on three characters but begins to die off with any of the three, we will not be afraid to ask that player to drop a character. Again, the player must be active with both of their first two characters before attempting to take on a third.

Caps on character types will be enforced if necessary.
This means we will cap females, homosexual characters, rich kids and any other stereotypes. We want everyone to think outside of the box and come up with unique and interesting ideas. There are more types of teenagers in high school than rich, artsy, fashionable, and sporty. There will be those types of characters, probably in abundance, but we are not afraid to cap them before they are dominating the game. These caps don't last very long when they come into being, please don't be discouraged if you see one in place!

Big community decisions are to be approved by the mods.
Speaking of caps, the mods have the right to limit or disallow an over-abundance of storylines unfitting to high school and to nix the branching out of the community into platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Livejournal, Blurty, MySpace, etc. If any idea that you have is bound to affect the community in a big way, we suggest you bring it to the drop-box. This includes teenage pregnancies, rape, serious injury and other big changes that would be noticed by the student body. If we happen to reject your idea, it's only with the game's best interests in mind. Also, we'd like to state very clearly that we disapprove of any character interaction taking place outside of IJ. The TOS' of both Facebook and Twitter disapprove of their platforms being used for impersonations of celebrities / using the face of a celebrity for an imagined persona, and we'd rather have no trouble those sites or any others.

Please keep in mind that students don't have the time to be in fourteen clubs, play all sports and take part in the school play. Make wise and careful decisions that reflect your character's likes and dislikes when choosing their sports and clubs. Biographies should clearly define the decisions they have made and the reasons why they participate in the things they are a member of. Biographies should be thorough and give us a good feeling for who your character is - both their history and their personality. The little things make the character and a list of short-facts is encouraged to get those across without having to write in their favorite football team or charity into the biography.

On a similar note, students are students.
What do we mean by this? While some are likely to ditch classes or show up late for school, there are bound to be consequences to numerous trips during school hours and events that'll disrupt the normal course of the school day. We encourage creativity and we understand this is RP but if the principal or dean of discipline has to step in at certain points, be prepared for it. All extended vacations should be cleared at the principal's journal and will need some kind of doctor's note. School administration will not turn a blind eye to student's spending four weeks in the Bahamas, be realistic!

Your character's journal should contain no underscores, no excessive use of x's or o's. Your AIM should pertain to your character and involve their name in some way. A journal entry is expected once every two weeks. We allow threading in the main community or in your journals, but add ~tegesta so that we can see you're writing. Abuse the subcommunities frequently. Put all graphics behind a cut to save space and loading time for people with slow connections, though. Mature storylines are allowed and should be handled with care. Pregnancies last nine months, teachers aren't all nice, etc.

Activity checks will be done once every two weeks and removals will usually be done the day before adds. If you haven't had a journal update or shown activity in any of the communities in two weeks, you will be removed. Another reason you may be removed is if, after a week, you haven't posted an introduction for your new addition. The exception to this rule is if you're on hiatus. Hiatuses can be granted for up to one month. If you read the rules, put your favorite drink in the subject line of your application comment. We encourage you to abuse the group like most people do facebook. Feel free to send in-character private messages, spam each other, and have an all around good time.

The biggest thing that we, as mods, are hoping that you, as players, will do is use common sense. We have the upmost faith that you will.

Again, thank you and have fun!
~tegesta mods.
